Gym Etiquette

  1. Bring a towel and the proper workout attire; Towel is for sanitation reasons, Proper attire is for the safety of yourself and to help preserve the machines. For example, jewerly may puncture surface of many of the machines.
WIPE DOWN MACHINES AND DRESS PROPERLY

  2. Don’t crash weights and limit your noises.
    LIMIT SOUNDS
  3. Put away weights after use, nothing is more annoying then taking off 500 lbs after someone else has used the machine... that is an entire workout in itself.
    RE-RACK WEIGHTS

  4. Also, put the weights and equipment back to its original location, its annoying looking for the weights or equipment for 10 minutes or more.
RETURN WEIGHTS AND OTHER EQUIPMENT TO ORIGINAL LOCATION WHERE YOU FOUND IT.

  5. Don’t spit on floor or water fountain. That is just disgusting, PERIOD.
KEEP BODILY FLUIDS TO YOURSELF AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.

  6. Don’t spend too much time on machine. Respect other people that are on a routine.
LIMIT DURATION ON MACHINE TO A MINIMUM

  7. Gentleman, respect the women at the gym- don’t follow them around like a stalker. Just let her focus on her workout... anyways, the best time to talk to a female is after her workout when her endorphins are the highest and she is most relaxed! Ladies, don’t gossip too much and if you like a guy and want to talk to him take it out of the gym so that others waiting for the equipment can get their workout in without waiting for a blue moon. Also, to those that like to cake on the make up and wear a lot of jewerly, WHY?
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN RESPECT EACH OTHER

  8. Don’t grunt too loud or scream, its not necessary, keep that for the bedroom. Nobody wants to hear that for the first rep and then 11 more after words.
    REITERATING #2

  9. Focus on doing the exercises right, if you don’t know how to do the exercise then ask someone else for advice or utilize the services of a personal trainer. I have seen too many times, someone doing the exercise wrong and they get hurt and all of a sudden it disrupts the entire gym because someone is going out on a stretcher.
    LEARN TO EXERCISE PROPERLY

  10. Cell phones. OMG, the gym is a place to focus on yourself not to talk on the phone. Take that outside the gym. Especially, in the cardio room, listening to a conversation with someone squaking loud is really irritating to everyone. Be courteous.
    LIMIT CELL PHONE USE

  11. The guys and gals that love to stare in the mirror and make faces at themselves and smile at the same time or just look constipated. This just needs to stop or be limited. There is always a bathroom to entertain yourself. Not everyone needs the show.
    NO DRAMA CLASSES

  12. Farters- ok this is something else...especially on the sled and doing squats, this is not only noise  pollution but also air pollution. It smells nasty and when you hear it, it breaks your concentration and could cause injury... So please, try to hold it in or at least make sure no one is around.
    ENOUGH SAID

  13. Its essential to drink water during a workout but if you have a water bottle and need to refill it. Make sure that no one is waiting to take a drink. If there is, it is considerate to let them go first, so that they don’t get dehydrated. Also, please throw away your disposable water bottle in the recycle bin where it belongs, don’t leave it for others to worry about.
    WATER BOTTLE ETIQUETTE

  14. This is mainly a guy thing. In the locker rooms, those guys that like to parade around like a ballerina in the locker rooms for a half hour. This is unnecessary. Its just plain weird.
NAKED MEN PARADING IN THE LOCKER ROOM

  15. If you got to much testerone then take it out on the weights. No need to start a fight with someone because you have issues with your anger and are irritable. Instead take it out on the weights! Advance yourself physically and mentally and use self-control. No gym needs a bully.
    LIMIT YOUR TESTERONE.

These are 15 main "Gym Ettiquette" Rules that have been selected  from a lot of viewers and also fellow gym enthusiasts. Some are just common knowledge and some are common courteous. Please follow these as much as possible when you train at the public gym. If you are at home or at a private place by yourself then you don’t have to worry about it as much. But in a public place, its important to abide by these implied rules so that you and other members can maximize your time and investment at the gym.
